Nuclei far from the stability valley produced by heavy ions
Description
Heavy-ion induced reactions can be utilized for populating nuclei far from stability. With quasi-elastic transfer reactions, at the Orsay MP tandem, masses, excitation energies and even spin of final states (68Ni for example) were measured. From deep-inelastic reactions at the GSI, neutron rich nuclei were formed; their spectroscopy was studied after the on-line mass separator. The 62Fe level scheme -for example- was established from this two complementary measurements. Reaction mechanisms and experimental methods are discussed

Les reactions induites par ions lourds permettent la synthese -par transfert massif- de noyaux eloignes de la vallee de stabilite. Les reactions de transfert quasi elastiques etudiees aupres du tandem d'Orsay ont permis de mesurer des masses, et meme dans certains cas des spins, des noyaux finaux riches en neutrons (68Ni par exemple). Par reaction profondement inelastique aupres du GSI on a forme des noyaux riches en neutrons dont la spectroscopie est etudiee derriere un separateur de masse en ligne. Le schema du noyau 62Fe -par exemple- a ete etabli par ces deux methodes complementaires. Les mecanismes de reaction et les methodes experimentales sont discutesAdditional details
