Consumable electrode welding of butt joints using pulsating arc
- 1. Vsesoyuznyj Proektno-Tekhnologicheskij Inst. Atomnogo Mashinostroeniya i Kotlostroeniya, Rostov-na-Donu (USSR)
Description
A method of butt welding of perlite steels by pulsating arc with the use of consumable electrodes is described. Quasi-arc automatic pulsating welding was used for the 12Kh1MF steel. Semiautomatic welding under carbon dioxide was used for welding low carbon and low alloy steels of the 20 and 20K types. Quasi-arc welding of the 12Kh1MF steel tubes provides for admissible hardness in the zone of thermal influence only after thermal treatment under conditions depending on dimensions of the article. Industrial use of the technology has shown that the butt welds were far less inclined to cracking
