Infrared time resolved saturation spectroscopy of CO in solid N2: A study of vibrational dephasing and spectral diffusion mechanisms

  • 1. Paris-11 Univ., 91 - Orsay (France). Lab. de Photophysique Moleculaire

Description

Time resolved hole burning experiments involving an IR pump-probe technique give evidence for a very narrow homogeneous vibrational linewidth (Δνsub(FWHM) < 20 Mhz at T = 9 K and [CO] = 5 x 10-6). Vibrational dephasing, quite inefficient at 9 K, seems to follow a T4 dependence. At higher concentrations spectral diffusion is found to occur. A time resolved study of the transient spectrum provides a detailed information about the spectral transfer mechanisms. (orig.)
