Geometrical aspects of high energy inelastic hadron reactions
Description
In order to clarify the geometrical aspects of high energy inelastic hadron reactions, the absorption processes at the geometrical stage are studied by making use of a classical method in the framework of the constituent model. The assumption that the colliding system separates into the leading parts and the central absorbed part tells us the constituent number of a hadron is small and comparable with the number of valence quarks. The logarithmic rise of total and inelastic cross sections is brought in the black disc situation by the threshold effects relevant to hadron production. The observed energy dependence of the cross sections of proton-proton collisions can be reproduced if constituents are black. (author)
