Acceleration of electrons in the inhomogeneous plasma by a biharmonic field

Description
Results of the numerical analysis of nonlinear relativistic differential equation for the plasma wave field excited by beats of two laser beams in the inhomogeneous plasma are presented as well as results of the numerical estimation of this wave from the standpoint of the prospect to use it for acceleration of electrons. It is shown that in case of the linear density profile and the CO2 laser doublet (P = 1014 W/cm2), the maximal electron energy growth is 8 MeV for particles with the initial energy of 500 keV, accelerating distance not exceeding 1 mm
