History, present status and future of reversed field pinch research. Review of RFP research at the termination of the RFP project in the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST)

Description
Research projects on the reverse field pinch (RFP) at AIST, Japan ended in March 2007. The R and D of RFP devices at AIST started in 1974 just after the IAEA Tokyo conference closed its longer than 30 years history. Here authors review history of RFP researches, especially those done at AIST and show their outcomes, unsolved problems and the future prospect. (T.I.)
