High power ion sources for fusion plasma heating

Description
Plasma heating by neutral beam injectors (NBI) is the primarY heating mechanism for magnetically confined fusion plasmas. The first source, operating at 160 kW, is installed on the UCLA SURMAC Dodecapole experiment. The other sources is a TFTR prototype operating at 7800 kW. 9 refs
