Concentrating a new natural spontaneously fissile nuclide from Cheleken geothermal brine

Search for super heavy elements in nature led to discovery in some natural samples a new hitherto unidentified spontaneously fissile nuclide (USFN). The purpose of this study was to concentrate USFN found in the geothermal brines of the Cheleken Peninsula (southeastern region of the Caspan Sea). The experiments were performed mainly during 1977-1978. In the experiments in Cheleken use was made of various methods of microelement extraction from solutions popular in radiochemistry and analytical chemistry. A specific group of the test elements was determined by their concentration in the original brine and by the sensitivity of the available analytical methods. Based on the prediction of the properties of SHE, the main attention was focused on noble (platinum group) and heavy metals of the sulfide group. Also, natural inorganic collectors taken from the borehole mouths were analyzed
