Structure and dynamics of small clusters using an embedded atom potential: Pdn(n=4-11)

Description
We have obtained the stable geometrical structures, energetics, the average bond length [1], melting behavior, and phase changes of Pdn (n 4-11) clusters by using Molecular Dynamics and thermal quenching simulations [2]. The cohesion of the clusters is modeled by an Embedded-Atom Potential [3], which contains many-body atomic interactions. Isomers' energy and their sampling probability distributions are calculated. Further, isomers' spectrum which is formed by their energies is analyzed. Melting phenomenon of a cluster is described in terms of relative root-mean-square bond length fluctuations. The transition region from solid- to liquid-like phases is investigated, and the melting temperatures of the clusters are estimated
