Description
Three underground laboratories are described. Two of them are implanted in argillaceous formations in Italy and Belgium, the third in an iron ore body in Federal Republic of Germany. The Italian and German laboratories take advantage of the existence of disused mining plants, the Belgian one has been created only for experimental purposes under the Nuclear Research Center of Mol. The geology of the sites as well as the different kinds of tests foreseen or already carried out are described putting the focus on the geotechnical aspect of the research
