Calculation and experimental verification of alpha spectrum under different pressures

Description
The author presents the mathematical model, which was established using a method based on the overlapping area of the source and the projection of the window and on the range-energy relationship (R∝E3/2 is an adequate approximation for most purposes), to calculate the α spectrum under different pressures. The α spectrum on theoretical ground can be considered to be convolution of the ideal spectrum and the response or system-spread function. Calculation of α spectra under different pressure is based on Fast Fourier Transform, and the comparisons with experimental α spectra are done respectively. The comparison shows that the correlation coefficients range is from 0.93 to 0.99 as pressure decreases. Peak position, peak area, FWHM and the energy calibration curve of the calculated α spectrum are within good agreement with that of measured α spectrum
