Performance of a three-headed rotating gamma camera for SPECT

Description

In this paper the imaging characteristics of a three-headed rotating gamma camera (TRIAD) designed specifically for SPECT are evaluated. The device consists of three rectangular field-of-view (22X40-cm) gamma cameras mounted onto a rotating CT type gantry. Each head independently moves radially during rotation, allowing for noncircular orbits. The energy resolution was 9.6% full width at half maximum (FWHM) at 140 keV. The NEMA measurements of uniformity yielded values of less than 3.6% for integral and less than 2.0% for differential uniformity in the CFOV. The intrinsic spatial resolution was 3.1-3.5 mm.
