Tracking the isotopes
Creators
Description
The history of nuclear and radiochemistry at Los Alamos, NM is presented - from the early days of designing and building the first nuclear weapon to the present. Today their interests also include geochemistry, biomedicine and basic nuclear science. Several tests are included, beginning with the Trinity Test in 1945 where radiochemists measured the debris from the nuclear explosion to determine the explosion's efficiency. There is continued growth in this field by the development of more sophisticated radiochemical procedures, instrumentations, calibrations, and research in the nuclear field. The isotope is tracked into space and measured with radiochemical detectors developed at Los Alamos
