Reactor pressure vessel

Description

The reactor pressure vessel of a PWR, described in the main patent no. 2164128, is placed within a steel concrete vessel (bursting protection) which is closed by means of wall hooks seizing a steel ring and the closure. According to the invention there will be in the cold state a smaller play between wall hooks and steel ring than the longitudinal expansion, to which the steel vessel is subjected if it is heated up to operational temperature amounts to. In this way there shall be obtained a higher safety margin against the hazard of a circumferential crack. (UWI)

Abstract (German)

Der im Hauptpatent 2164128 beschriebene RDB eines DWR befindet sich in einem Stahlbetonbehaelter (Berstschutz), der mit Fanghaken, die ueber einen Stahlring und den Deckel greifen, geschlossen wird. Erfindungsgemaess soll nun im kalten Zustand zwischen Fanghaken und Stahlring ein kleineres Spiel vorhanden sein als die Dehnung ausmacht, die das Stahlgefaess beim Erwaermen auf Betriebstemperatur in Laengsrichtung erfaehrt. Man soll so eine hoehere Sicherheit erreichen, vor allem gegen die Gefahr eines Rurdrisses. (UWI)
