CharcteristiΣ of mirror neutron quides made of the FLOAT glass
Description
The requirements one sets for the surface of glass the mirror neutron guides made from are discussed. The quality of the surface of glass of the FLOAT type produced in the USSR and ChSSR was determined experimentally by measuring the coefficient of total reflection and the indicatrix of neutron scattering after reflection. A test of the neutron guides from that glass was performed on IBR-30 beams with the 1.68A wave length. Neutron spectra and transmission coefficients obtained are given. It is concluded, that the transmission of the Type FLOAT glass is inferior to that expected
