Description

The results of a detailed, sectoral low-energy strategy for the UK have recently been published. Some information from this study is used to take further one of the central issues already raised: the rapid widening of the energy and electricity demand futures that now seem plausible. The relevance to the need for a nuclear or a fast breeder programme will become obvious. The official fore-casts of energy demand have been falling very rapidly. Before returning to these forecasts the electricity demand forecasts and the extent to which they do - or do not - incorporate conservation and saturations of demand are examined in some detail.
