Description
- The present study describes the synthesis of materials derived from castor oil and its application as a bio lubricant, aiming to replace petroleum-based products, which are increasingly toxic to the environment. Thus, castor oil was transesterified with 2-ethylhexanol (EHRO) and further epoxidized (TEPO). After, the epoxy ring was opened with aromatic amines (aniline - ANIL, anisidine - ANIS). These products were characterized by 1H-NMR and their physicochemical and thermal properties were investigated. In addition, a tribological analysis of these oils was performed. The amine derivative ANIS exhibited more promising physical-chemical and tribological properties for application as lubricants. (author)
