Influence of post-irradiation temperature on the repair of gamma-induced lesions in barley seeds

  • 1. Radiation Center of Osaka Prefecture, Sakai (Japan)

Description

In barley seeds gamma-irradiated alone and along with post-treatment of chloramphenicol and 2,4-dinitrophenol under various incubation temperature (0-300C) conditions, growth reduction and chlorophyll mutant frequency were investigated. The extent of growth reduction and the mutant yield in irradiation alone, decreased as post-incubation temperature increased, except for 300C. The inhibitor-posttreatment significantly enhanced gamma-induced growth reduction and similar levels of reduction were found in all the temperature conditions. The mutant yield was also stimulated by the combination treatment of gamma-ray and inhibitor. (author)
