Energy dependence of ternary processes in dissipative collisions
Description
The relative cross-sections of 2- and 3-body outgoing channels were measured for the system 100Mo+100Mo at 12, 14.7 and 18.8 MeV/u incident energy. At total-kinetic-energy losses (TKEL) greater than 500 MeV the 3-body channel accounts for more strength than the 2-body channel. For a given TKEL, the intensity ratio of these two channels is independent of the bombarding energy. Therefore, the probability of 3-body processes is attributed to the decay properties of the highly excited primary products rather than to the dynamics of the collision
