Conformation programs and RENEL's environmental strategy

According to the Orders of the Ministry of Waters, Forests and Environmental Protection a Conformation Program was launched for the environmental protection by the Romanian Electricity Authority - RENEL. The mitigation actions recommended by this program consist in: diminishing the impact upon the soil on site (inside the yard of the power plant), decrease of the systematic and accidental losses and leakages at the platform for unloading the concentrated reagents and in the area of storage of reagents, decrease of the losses of fuel oil and oil at unloading platform and storing facilities, the decrease of the pollution with sedimentary coal dust in the area of coal storage facilities. Also, the program provides measures: for decrease of pollution with fly ash due to wind sweep off, for plantation of tree curtains (belts) around the ash pond (or even around the power plant itself), for seeding grass on the ash pond's slopes under the protection of biodegradable geological strata.
