Some comments on the theory of nuclear reactions
Description
In part I, a simple derivation of the Hauser-Feshbach formula which avoids the calculation of the sum over resonances is presented. In part II, the description of a resonance in the scattering from a deformed nucleus in which the intermediate state is specified by the angle of the target is proposed. Part III contains a discussion of the bound states in the continuum which occur when the scattering potential is sufficiently absorbing as well as the deviation of the general theorem of great importance for the theory of direct multistep processes. Some experimental results are compared with the predictions of that theory
