Systematics of α decay of even-even isotones
Description
The α decay of even-even isotones has been studied for the first time by analyzing the experimental data. The α-decay energy of isotones is found to depend approximately linearly upon the number of protons. It is shown that the Geiger-Nuttall (GN) law is valid for isotopes and isobars as well as for isotones. Deviations from the GN law are due to nuclear shell structure. The found regularities of the isotone α decay are used to estimate the α-decay energies, the kinetic energies of emitted α particles, and the α-decay partial halftime for known and unknown neutron-deficient nuclei 202,204Ra, 210Th, 228,230Pu, 234,236Cm, 242,244Fm, 250,258No, and 254,256Ku
