Description

We have carried out the calculations and designs for a high-power Blumlein pulse generator (150 kV, 100 kA) to be used in the field of plasma physics research from the 45 calculated variance we have chosen a Blumlein pulse forming line which has the length of 1.5 m and the cylinders diameters of 320, 400, 500 mm. We have calculated the loss energy which is dissipated in the Blumlein dielectric (deionized water) in the charging time. We have found that the lost energy will be lower then 7 % of the whole energy. The high-voltage switch has a cylindrical symmetry and is a multi-channel discharge switch. All Blumlein components will be constructed of stainless steel which, unlike aluminium, does not oxidize in very pure water and is less likely to suffer from surface damage in the event of a breakdown. For the preliminary tests, the Blumlein generator has a copper sulphate solution artificial load. (Author)
