Description

Of the several models suggested for explaining supralinearity and sensitization in LiF-TLD 100, the track interaction model and the non-luminescent centres model are most satisfactory in explaining the experimental results. Objections have been raised against the track interaction model that it would predict to high sensitization and against its rapid loss with increasing post-irradiation annealing temperature. Here sensitization and supralinearity results are obtained making possible some phenomenological calculations based on the track interaction model. It is shown that most of the experimental results can be explained quantitatively. The model successfully explains the fact that the maximum supralinearity and sensitization factors are different in magnitude and occur at different doses. (author)
