Description
The lifetime of the 1.89 MeV, 2+ level of 18Ne has been measured to be 0.67+-0.06 ps by an analysis of the Doppler broadened γ-ray line shape in coincidence with neutrons from the 3He(16O,nγ)18Ne reaction. A comparison with the analogue decay of 18O indicates the presence of two-body contributions to the E2 transition strength. (Auth.)
