Norway cogitates on alternate energies

The author reports his visit of a Norwegian research centre, expert in offshore technologies, which is currently investigating CO2 storage. All aspects of storage are considered: carbon capture, separation, transport and storage. A carbon capture and storage facility is already operating to develop a solvent-based extraction process. The main challenge is to reduce energy consumption and to prevent the emission of solvents in the environment. The research centre is also involved in the development of offshore wind energy production.
