Low-level determination of Th-isotopes by alpha spectrometry. Part 1. Evaluation of radiochemical separation methods

Description

Thorium is an unusual radionuclide in laboratory intercomparisons and when it appears, the number of participants providing results is small and the results provided are not reliable enough. These facts are particularly significant for environmental and industrial solid samples. In this work, we analyze the most suitable method for Th determination by alpha-particle spectrometry, evaluating technical points and also considering cost, time and chemical reagents used. This work is divided in two parts. This part 1 deals with the analysis of different radiochemical separation methods for Th isotopes. (author)
