Liquid-liquid extraction and spectrophotometric determination of palladium(II) with isonitrosomalondianilide

  • 1. Inst. of Science, Bombay (India). Inorganic and Nuclear Chem. Div.

Description

Isonitrosomalondianilide (HIMDA) is proposed as a new reagent for the selective extraction and photometric determination of Pd(II). The reagent forms a yellow water-insoluble complex with palladium in the pH range 2-4.25. The complex is extracted with chloroform and its absorbance measured against a reagent blank spectrophotometrically at 385 nm. The effects of experimental variables and diverse ions are reported. The proposed method is highly selective and rapid for the estimation of palladium at trace levels. (author). 1 fig., 2 tabs., 23 refs
