- 1. Framatome and Schneider Electric to upgrade Safety systems at Dukovany Power Plant (Czech Republic)
Description
The consortium formed by Framatome and Schneider Electric has signed a contract with the Skoda JS industrial group to upgrade the safety systems in all four units at the Dukovany nuclear power plant operated by the Czech national electricity utility CEZ. The contract covers the instrumentation and control systems for reactor protection and operation under accident conditions. The four Russian-designed VVER 440-213 units, the first of which went on line 15 years ago, will be gradually upgraded between 2005 and 2009. State-of-the-art ''Spinline 3'' digital protection systems jointly developed by Framatome and Schneider Electric will be deployed. This technology was recently introduced into the Fessenheim plant in France during the second ten-year outage, and into units 3 and 4 at the Kozloduy power plant. It will also be installed next year at Tihange in Belgium and in the Qinshan plant in China. (author)
