Radioactive waste transmutation using accelerators

Description
The data on radiation hazards of high-level radioactive wastes (HLRW) and spent nuclear fuels are considered. Advantages of HLRW transmutation using high-current proton accelerators are shown. The Japanese and US projects of HLRW transmutation using this method are described. The data on γ transmutation of long-living HLRW are briefly summarized
