Radiation dose to the wrist of the radiologist during some fluoroscopic investigations

Description
It is well known that fluoroscopic radiological procedures result in a high radiation dose to the radiologist. Measurement of the radiation dose to the wrist of the radiologist was done during diagnostic procedures like barium enema, barium meal, barium swallow, myelography, hysterosalpingography, and cystourethrography. We employed CaSo4:Dy thermoluminescence dosimeters (TLD) discs for these dose measurements. It was observed that myelography delivers a slightly higher dose to the wrist of the radiologist among all the examinations studied by us. There was no appreciable change in the dose received by the wrist of the radiologist during other fluoroscopic examinations. (author). 5 refs., 2 tabs
