The effect of alloying on the properties of Mg-Gd alloys
Description
The effect of additional alloying with up to 1 % Si, Al, Zr, Sn, Zn and Cd and up to 8% Sc and Y on mechanical properties of the Mg-10 % Cd-0.6 % Mn alloy is studied. The aged at 200 deg C alloys are investigated at 20 and 300 deg C. The investigation established the maximum increase in the strength properties in the alloy with 4-6 % Y, providing that ductility was sufficient. The IMV7 (Mg-9.3 %,Gd-4.8 % Y-0.61 % Mn) alloy can be used as a structural material for operating at the room and elevated (up to 350 deg C) temperatures
