Description
In this paper a partial review of high energy spectroscopic studies of the new superconductors is given. The authors attempt to summarize the evidence on the ground state electronic configuration of these materials, the valency of Cu, the strength of electron-electron correlation, and the nature of the hole states which apparently lead to superconductivity
