Flow of liquid metals with a transversely applied magnetic field, 6

  • 1. Tokyo Inst. of Tech. (Japan)

Description

The turbulent flow in the entrance region with a transversely applied magnetic field was analyzed. The method of analysis which had been applied for laminar flow was used for the present analysis. Assuming a series solution far the velocity distribution of the steady turbulent flow between parallel plates, the analysis was performed. Then, developed turbulent flow without an applied magnetic field was given at the entrance, and the velocity distribution in a cross-section was obtained. The present analysis was not useful for the region with large Hartmann number. The obtained results were compared with those of Maciulaitis et al. The present results are considered to be reasonable.
