Description
The most important parameters which govern the multiphoton ionization process of atoms, namely the atomic bound states, the frequency, temporal coherence and polarization of the laser light are investigated. Moreover, multiphoton spectroscopy is an application of multiphoton transitions in atomic physics, and allows the determination of the energy of highly excited levels of atoms
