The investigation of the nuclear spin relaxation of 6Li-, 7Li-, and 23Na atoms for iridium in uhv
Description
The thesis investigates the relaxation of nuclear spin polarized alkali nuclei at polycrystalline iridium surfaces. Polarization measurements were performed with vector- and tensor polarized atomic beams for 6Li-, 7Li and 23Na atoms. For 23Na a quadrupole interaction is found, for 6Li a hyperfine interaction between valence electrons and the nuclear dipole moment and for 7Li a depolarization is found, which seems to be a superposition of quadrupole interaction and hyperfine interaction.
