Interrelation of isothermal deformation parameters of the VT22 titanium alloy
Description
Yield point of the VT22 titanium alloy has been investigated as influenced by temperature and rate of hot strain in uniaxial tension and compression (deformation 6-10%) and in forging of ribbed samples. It is shown that the resistance to strain can not be reduced by increasing temperature above 800-920 deg C because of the narrow temperature range of the alloy hot deformation. However, the yield point can be decreased by more than an order of magnitude by reducing the strain rate to 10-4 s-1. The studies have resulted in technological parameters of the VT22 alloy isothermic stamping with high efficiency of the metal use (to 0.5) and high coefficient of non-processed surface (to 0.6)
