Turbine replacement in nuclear power plant

Description
The nuclear power stations at Goesgen and Leibstadt will replace their turbines by new low-pressure turbines with enhanced efficiency. The increase in annual electricity output achieved by the new turbines corresponds to the demand of approx. 130 000 households, or the total consumption of the town of St. Gallen. This substantial contribution to the overall Swiss electricity supply will not only be achieved at reasonable cost, but at no additional expense of the environment at that. (orig.)

Die Kernkraftwerke Goesgen und Leibstadt erhalten neue Niederdruckturbinen mit verbessertem Wirkungsgrad. Die damit verbundene Steigerung der jaehrlichen Stromproduktion entspricht dem Bedarf von fast 130 000 Haushaltungen oder dem Gesamtverbrauch der Stadt St. Gallen. Dieser substantielle und kostenguenstige Beitrag an die schweizerische Stromversorgung hat keinerlei Mehrbelastungen der Umwelt zur Folge. (orig.)Additional details
