Seeds of hope: Director General of the IAEA visiting rapeseed oil plant in the Republic of Belarus

Description

15 years after Chernobyl, villages in Belarus still have radiation levels noticeably higher due to fallout. This short video shows how the IAEA assists in decontamination projects and in recovering contaminated land for safe uses, e.g. by planting rapeseed. The tiny seeds do not take up radioisotopes from the soil and can be used to produce edible oils. A visit of the Director General of the IAEA to a rapeseed oil plant is also shown
