Selection of tasks for the application of robotic devices
Description
Increasing emphasis is being placed on the use of robotic devices to achieve ALARA. The feasibility of robotics use is supported by recent emergency uses. Ideally, robotics should be applied to routine tasks creating exposure concerns. But, the state of technology demands use in the areas most suitable for application. However, several applications for robotics still exist in current commercial nuclear facilities. Guidelines for task selection are given, and specific robotics applications at Duke Power Company are reviewed
