Nucleon size in the nucleus and pionic swelling
Description
We discuss the size of the nucleon in the nucleus. It has been suggested, in connection with the EMC effect and the missing-strength problem in the charge response of the nucleus, that the nucleon swells in the nuclear medium. We propose a pionic interpretation of this swelling, which reconciles this effect with the interpretation of the EMC effect based on the conventional picture of the nucleus through meson exchanges
