Use of the boniga of the Santa Teresita Dairy for the production of electrical energy
Description
A technical design and an economic analysis of the boniga utilization system of the Santa Teresita dairy was presented for the production of electrical energy. The total energy demand of the farm has consisted of 3,294 kWh per month, and the required power has been 18.7 kW. Field visits to the dairy were carried out to determine its conditions and count the amount of boniga available. Topics of biogas generation and electricity generation from biogas were investigated. The interviews with professionals were developed on the topic of use of renewable energy, use of organic waste, electricity generation. The design of biodigesters currently in operation was investigated in the country. An economic analysis was carried out to determine the cost of inputs for the construction of this energy use system and the profitability of the project. The farm has shown that it can become energetically self-sufficient. The economic indicators have shown an IRR of 31% and a NPV of 15% of ₡11,290,452, so the project is economically attractive. The implementation of the project has shown that the release of greenhouse gases would be avoided by 77 cubic meters of methane per day

Un diseno tecnico y un analisis economico del sistema de aprovechamiento de la boniga de la lecheria Santa Teresita fue presentado para la produccion de energia electrica. La demanda energetica total de la finca ha consistido en 3.294 kWh al mes, y la potencia requerida ha sido de 18,7 kW. Las visitas de campo a la lecheria fueron realizadas para determinar las condiciones de la misma y contabilizar la cantidad de boniga disponible. Temas de generacion de biogas y generacion de electricidad a partir de biogas fueron investigadas. Las entrevistas a profesionales fueron desarrolladas en el tema de uso de energias renovables, aprovechamiento de desechos organicos, generacion electrica. El diseno de biodigestores actualmente en funcionamiento fue investigado en el pais. Un analisis economico fue realizado para determinar el costo de los insumos para la construccion de este sistema de aprovechamiento de energia y la rentabilidad del proyecto. La finca ha mostrado que puede llegar a ser autosuficiente energeticamente. Los indicadores economicos han mostrado un TIR del 31% y un VAN al 15% de ₡11.290.452 por lo que el proyecto es atractivo economicamente.
