Hydrodynamic model for two different metals separated by a vacuum gap

Description

Hydrodynamic model is formulated for two different metals separated by a narrow vacuum gap, using the procedure of Barton. Nondimensional coefficients are introduced to describe asymmetry of the physical system. Explicit expressions for dispersion relations and electrostatic potential produced by both surface and bulk plasmons are derived. Corresponding results of earlier papers are obtained in this model as its limit cases. (author). 15 refs
