Investigation of phenomena on the carbon fiber-nickel film interface under nonstationary conditions

Description

The phenomena on the carbon fiber-1 μm thick nickel film interface are considered on heating up to 1000 deg C in the argon and air with the rates from 2.5 to 20 deg C/min. It is established that nickel films on carbon fibers are evaporated leaving metal islets on the fiber surface while heating at the constant rate in the argon flow. In the process of uniform heating of a fiber with the rates of 10 and 20 deg C/min in the air at temperatures higher than 700 deg C a separation of the fiber from the coating occurs, the latter oxidating up to the nickel oxide
