Description
A theoretical analysis of magnetic structures in cupric oxide at T<213 K based on neutron scattering data has been undertaken all over again. A new model of the antiferromagnetic (AFM) structures in CuO is proposed. The magnetic energy expression is written from the symmetry consideration and qualitatively investigated. The possibilities for a weak noncollinear AFM ordering and a domain structure to exist in a sample of cupric oxide are discussed. The two-dimensional character of spin correlations in CuO is stressed. (orig.)
