Measurement of lineal-energy distributions for neutrons with tissue equivalent proportional counter

Description

A shielding experiment was performed with Tissue Equivalent Proportional Counter (TEPC). The source neutrons were produced by bombarding 400-MeV/nucleon 12C ion on the 5-cm-thick Cu target at 0 degree using the Heavy Ion Medical Accelerator in Chiba (HIMAC) of National Institute of Radiological Science (NIRS), Japan. The TEPC was put just behind the shield. The lineal-energy distributions, the mean-quality factors and attenuation profiles of absorbed dose and dose equivalent behind the shield were obtained from the measured data
