Neutron techniques for structural analysis of high-Tc superconductors and for determining the oxygen distribution in YBa2Cu3O6.35
Description
This dissertation reports investigations into the stability of various microstructures of superconducting materials as a function of different parameters (substitution, temperature), applying the high-resolution, Debye-Scherrer-type neutron differaction method. Further studies reported have been made with large single crystals for neutron scattering, with diffuse scattering and superstructure reflexes expected to yield information on possible shifting and substitution-induced disorders which might play a significant role in the new high-Tc superconductors. The measurements necessary for the studies have been made using a modified, energy-selective flat-cone diffractometer installed at the BER II research reactor of Hahn-Meitner Institute, Berlin. Im ersten Teil dieser Arbeit wurde die Stabilitaet verschiedener Strukturen supraleitender Materialien in Abhaengigkeit von verschiedenen Parametern (Substitution, Temperatur) mittels hochaufloesender Neutronen-Pulverdiffraktometrie untersucht. Im weiteren Verlauf der Arbeit standen dann grosse Einkristalle fuer Neutronenstreuung zur Verfuegung. Mittels diffuser Streuung und Ueberstrukturreflexen sollten Informationen ueber moegliche Verschiebungs- und Substitutionsfehlordnungen gewonnen werden, die in den neuen Hochtemperatur-Supraleitern eine wichtige Rolle spielen koennten. Zur Durchfuehrung geplanter Messungen wurde dazu ein energieselektives Flat-Cone Diffraktometer am Forschungsreaktor BER II des Hahn-Meitner-Instituts in Berlin modifiziert wiederaufgebaut.
