Development of smart systems for use in PRA modelling

Description

Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) is increasingly being used to address licensing and design considerations for operating nuclear facilities. This increased usage has identified a need for a computer tool to assist the analyst in the development of system fault tree models for use in PRA analysis. To address this need the Fault Tree Management System (FTMS) code was developed. This code uses analyst responses to code questions and a series of smart routines to develop a fault tree model. The model is typically developed in one half the time that an analyst would typically require. The FTMS also provides a means of assuring product quality by requiring the analyst to provide documentation as the model is developed. (orig.)
