Description
In this paper Mr. Pavol Rusko, Vice-Premier Minister and Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic deals with Slovak energy power industry and with the current issue in relation to the completion of the 3rd and 4th blocks of the Mochovce nuclear power plants. The significant milestone either for the whole Slovak economy or for the electric engineering industry is the first May 2004, when the Slovak Republic became a member of the great European Union. It can be stated with great delight that the basic development trends correspondent to the conditions of globalisation, internationalisation of relationships and competitiveness of own production. Privatisation of the state enterprises and the ongoing reconstruction have stabilised developments of the electric engineering industry, what is reflected at present not only to the economic results, but also to the ongoing interest of foreign investors. The companies like Siemens, Alcatel, Matsushita, Molex and others became in Slovakia important investors. The world giants as Sony and Samsung promise dramatic changes that would shift the electric engineering industry to the second position, immediately after the car making industry. The export efficiency of this industry is very interesting from the view of the Slovak Republic Ministry of Economy. For the last year it covered 11.4 % of total exporting of the all industries and such trend appears as long-term. The electric engineering industry as the only processing industry in Slovakia has reported since 1998 the growth of employment. It reached the 3rd place in terms of employment after the mechanical engineering industry and the light industry
