Influence of surface layer quality following various surface treatment on fatigue properties of VT9 titanium base alloy
Creators
Description
The influence of surface layer quality on the fatigue properties of 18 mm diam. series-rolled rod samples (VT9 alloy) was investigated. The degree of surface roughness has a strong effect on fatigue properties; accordingly it is essential to assess this effect with the help of a theoretical stress concentration coefficient for the analytical relationship described. The effect of an annular groove must be determined on the basis of the total stress concentration coefficient value for the notch itself and its surface roughness. (author)
